| We finally made it up to the Stanley, ID area and went camping on Redfish Lake, which is 5 miles south of Stanley. Stanley is about 130 miles northeast of us and is right at a 3 hour trip due to winding through the mountains. We camped on the east side of the Lake at Outlet Campground and faced out toward the Sawtooth Mountains; which were much more grand looking in person than what these pictures show. You'll notice with the Lake photos and the Lake sunset photos that the views are real similar since they were all taken from our side of the lake but were taken at different times of the day and on different days, I encourage looking at them all even though they are similiar so to see how the lake and mountains change colors. You'll notice that Redfish Lake's water is crystal clear and changes from blue colors to greenish-blue colors depending on the time of day and how the sky looks. Redfish Lake is a five-mile long glacial lake at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains, it's elevation is 6547 feet. Redfish Lake was named for the red-scaled sockeye salmon that return every year to spawn via the Salmon River. The lake flows into the Salmon River via the Redfish Lake Creek. |
